CheckMedicaid.com exists to make Medicaid and SNAP eligibility rules easier to understand. These programs support millions of families, but the rules — income limits, work requirements, renewal deadlines — change often and vary by state. This site breaks that information down into plain language, backed by official sources, so you can find out where you likely stand before you apply.
We are not a government agency, a law firm, or a substitute for your state Medicaid office. We are an independent information resource. Final eligibility decisions are always made by your state.
Who Writes This Site

I have a Master’s in Social Work and spent [6 years] working as a caseworker trainer for SNAP and Medicaid programs, including Medicaid billing, helping frontline staff understand and apply eligibility rules correctly. I started CheckMedicaid.com because I kept seeing the same problem: people qualified for help and didn’t know it, or thought they qualified and got confused by paperwork.
I write and personally verify every article and calculator on this site against primary sources — official Federal Poverty Level guidelines from HHS, SSI benefit rates from the Social Security Administration, and each state’s own Medicaid agency publications. When federal or state rules change, I update the relevant pages and note the date of the last review at the bottom of each article.
This is a one-person operation. I’m not going to pretend otherwise — I’d rather you trust what’s actually here than a claim about a “team” you can’t verify.
How We Keep This Accurate
- Primary sources only. Every income limit and eligibility figure is sourced from Medicaid.gov, HHS Federal Poverty Guidelines, SSA benefit notices, or a state’s official Medicaid/DHS website — linked directly at the bottom of each article.
- Dated reviews. Each article shows when it was last checked against current rules, not just when the page was technically republished.
- Corrections welcome. If you spot outdated information or a state rule that’s changed, tell us — see below. We fix errors as soon as they’re confirmed.
- No sign-ups, no data collection. Our calculators don’t require an account or store personal information.
